Get it checked out by your dentist or doctor. You may have tinnitus, an issue that is not uncommon, says Dr. Murray Grossan, an ear, nose and throat doctor in Los Angeles and author of Stressed? Anxiety? Your Cure Is in the Mirror.

Tinnitus is noise or ringing in your ear, and according to the Mayo Clinic, it affects 1 in 5 people. It’s not a disorder itself, but rather a symptom that signals an underlying condition -- hearing loss, overexposure to loud noises, or a circulatory system disorder, for example.

Certain dental problems, such as an impacted wisdom tooth or misaligned teeth, can aggravate tinnitus. They do that by affecting the temporomandibular joint, which is located on each side of your head in front of your ears, where your lower jawbone meets your skull.

Because tinnitus can be a sign of a serious condition, ask your doctor and dentist for recommendations.
