No Pink Cadillac for Mary Kay

Cosmetic firm unveils newest version of its Beauty Fleet in Dallas.

Long known for awarding pink Cadillacs to its top sales consultants, the cosmetics firm Mary Kay took a left turn at its annual seminar. Thousands of the company’s beauty consultants who were expecting to see a new model of the coveted pink Cadillac were astonished to view a brand-new black Ford Mustang emerging from behind a thick curtain of smoke and dazzling pyrotechnics. The crowd demonstrated their approval of the new family member with roaring cheers and applause. The stylish Ford Mustang joins her iconic sister, the pink Cadillac, as another symbol of status and achievement of the Mary Kay independent sales force.

“At Mary Kay, for nearly 50 years, we have conducted extensive design work as we develop on-trend, high-performing color cosmetics and skin care products that consumers want and need,” says Yvette Franco, vice president of U.S. marketing. “We applied this same, deep-rooted commitment to searching for a new Mary Kay Career Car option for our independent beauty consultants that beautifully blends style and sport with functionality and durability -- as well as one more way to inspire the Mary Kay independent sales force on their road to success. Our company’s dedication to finding what women want is underscored once again as we welcome the trendy and sporty Ford Mustang to our family of Mary Kay Career Cars.”
